Canadiens Rumors: David Savard Confirms Trade Rumors
Entering the final year of his contract with a $3.5 million cap hit, the 33-year-old understands the situation he's in. The Canadiens are focused on developing their young blueliners like Logan Mailloux, Lane Hutson, and David Reinbacher, which might necessitate clearing roster space.
Savard knows that as the team looks to the future, his time in Montreal could be nearing its end.

He has embraced his position as a mentor, using his extensive experience to guide the younger players as they transition into the NHL. Savard is realistic about the business side of hockey and acknowledges that a trade might be inevitable if the right offer comes along.
"I understand the situation with an organization that is focused on a lot of young players. There will be rumors. I'll have to deal with that and not think about it daily. It's part of the reality, and it's a possibility every day," Savard said.

Savard is also optimistic about the direction the Canadiens are heading, seeing potential in the team’s ability to compete for a playoff spot this season. While he understands that trade rumors will persist, he hopes to stay with the team for the entire season, believing he still has much to offer as the Canadiens work towards becoming more competitive.
"If I can stay until the end of the year, I'd like that. After that, we'll see what's available to me. For now, I'm taking it day by day. I know these stories will be talked about all year, but we're happy to stay."
