Flyers Terminate Contract of Ryan Johansen for "Material Breach"
He was acquired at the trade deadline last season from the Colorado Avalanche, but he showed up with a hip injury that kept him off the ice and he was never able to suit up for the Philadelphia Flyers.

Johansen was going into the final season of an 8-year, $64 million deal, but will have to eat the final year of that unless he decides to file a grievance, which according to a report, he is likely to do.
Ryan Johansen will have 60 days to decide if he wants to file a grievance on his contract termination via the NHLPA.

Early indication is he's likely to do so.
Multiple players who have gone that route in the past have ended up with negotiated settlements.
He did play 63 games for the Avs before the trade, posting 13 goals and 23 points in 13:39 of ice time per game.
