Flyers to Bring Goalie Eetu Makiniemi To Camp On PTO
He's only played two games in the NHL, but Eetu Makiniemi has maintained a save percentage above .900 in every single year of his pro career, from Finland, to the AHL to the ECHL. The Philadelphia Flyers are giving him a shot, signing the 25-year-old Finnish netminder to a PTO.

Makiniemi will join the Flyers' NHL tandem of Samuel Ersson and Ivan Fedotov in training camp, along with Cal Petersen and AHLers Parker Gahagen and Keith Petruzzelli also in the system. Makiniemi will hope to land himself a depth role in the organization, with the uncertainty surrounding Alexei Kolosov.
He played a couple of games for the San Jose Sharks in 2022-23, and the last two seasons in the AHL with the team's affiliate the Barracuda. He has a 3.04 goals-against average and a save percentage of exactly .900 over those two seasons.
He was a 4th round pick of the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft (#104 overall), and was traded to the Sharks in the Brent Burns trade.
