Spence, 23, cemented himself a permanent spot on the Kings' blueline this past season, and he has landed this sweet new contract because of it. He will now look to take another big step forward in his development next season and earn a more significant role in the process.
Spence had a solid season in 2023-24, as he recorded two goals, 24 points, 67 hits, and a plus-5 rating. Overall, he provided decent offense from the point for the Kings, and there is a clear reason to believe that he could hit a higher level next season because of it.
This contract is a classic bridge deal, as the salary is affordable and it is only for two seasons. During it, Spence will look to improve his all-around game, as it would help his chances of landing a more expensive contract once this latest contract expires.
In 101 career NHL games over three seasons with the Kings thus far, Spence has four goals, 33 points, and a plus-6 rating.
