New Jersey Devils Re-Sign Former First-Rounder Nolan Foote

The New Jersey Devils have made a move, as they have re-signed forward Nolan Foote to a one-year, two-way contract. At the NHL level, Foote will carry an $825,000 cap hit.

Foote, 23, missed the majority of the 2023-24 season due to a lower back injury disc issue. Because of this, he appeared in just four games for the Devils this past campaign, where he had one goal, three hits, and a minus-1 rating. He also played in four games down in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Utica Comets, where he had three goals and four points.

Foote is now entering next season with the hope of cracking the Devils' NHL roster and become a regular in their lineup. The Denver, Colorado native certainly has the potential to, as he is a former first-round pick has the skill and size to at least be a bottom-six forward in the NHL. Now, it is just a matter of staying healthy and taking that next step.

The Devils acquired Foote from the Tampa Bay Lightning during the 2019-20 season as one of the main pieces back from the Blake Coleman trade.

It will now be very interesting to see what kind of season Foote can put together in 2024-25.
