NHL Rumors: Proposed Trade Sends Jonathan Huberdeau To Blues

Adam Gretz of Bleacher Report has proposed a trade scenario that could see the Calgary Flames send Jonathan Huberdeau to the St. Louis Blues in exchange for defenseman Colton Parayko.

Both players are locked into long-term contracts through the 2027-28 season, making this potential swap a enticing move for both franchises.

Huberdeau, who carries a hefty $10.5 million cap hit, has struggled to replicate the offensive success he enjoyed with the Florida Panthers since joining the Flames.

With Calgary seemingly entering a rebuild and having offloaded key defensemen like Chris Tanev and Noah Hanifin, acquiring Parayko could address their pressing need on the blue line.

Parayko, an Alberta native known for his defensive reliability and ability to log big minutes, would be a nice addition to a Flames defense that has been left thin.

For the Blues, taking on Huberdeau’s contract is a gamble, but it could pay off if the forward can rediscover his scoring touch.

St. Louis finished 24th in goals scored last season, and Huberdeau's potential offensive boost could be just what they need.

While Parayko has been a cornerstone of their defense, the Blues have the cap space and could benefit from the upside Huberdeau offers if he thrives in a new environment.

This trade, though risky, presents a possible win-win scenario, allowing both teams to address specific needs and provide a fresh start for two players who might benefit from a change of scenery.
