NHL Trade Rumors: 2 Buffalo Sabres Trade Candidates Heading Into 2024-25

The Buffalo Sabres are hopeful they can get back into the Stanley Cup Playoff conversation in the Eastern Conference next season. The Sabres are coming off another disappointing season in 2023-24 and frankly, general manager Kevyn Adams will be one of the GM's on the hot seat should the Sabres get off to a bad start in October.

Adams has done a good job trying to upgrade his roster this summer. Looking ahead to next season, here's a couple of Sabres to keep on the trade radar:

Devon Levi

Adams re-signed Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen to a long-term contract and gave him over $5 million annually so there was a lot of heads that turned to Levi's direction. The same can be said when Adams signed veteran James Reimer to a one-year deal, essentially punting Levi for the minors in 2024-25. The former top prospect is now 22 and has one season left on his entry-level deal. While Reimer is just a stop gap, this is certainly a storyline to follow as Levi could become frustrated with the amount of NHL minutes provided by Adams and the Sabres. He went 10-8-2 last season for Buffalo and has 1-A potential. Teams will be calling now that Luukkonen is locked in.

Jordan Greenway

Greenway has just one season left on his contract before hitting unrestricted free agency and holds a modified eight-team no-trade clause. To this point there hasn't been much speculated on an extension so Greenway certainly fits the bill as a potential rental option for onlooking teams. Last season, the 27-year-old winger produced 10 goals and 28 points in 67 games. With his size and strength he's attractive for contending teams as a third-line winger who can move up the lineup should an injury occur. Greenway is set to earn $3 million against the cap next season.
