NHL Trade Rumors: 2 New Jersey Devils Trade Candidates for 2024-25

The New Jersey Devils have been one of the busiest teams this offseason. General manager Tom Fitzgerald had a detailed and lengthy to-do list this summer and he's accomplished a ton with some very bold moves.

Looking ahead to next season, Fitzgerald won't be happy until his roster is completely balanced and while there's a chance New Jersey will improve, if they falter, look for their aggressive GM to make some more moves.

Here's two Devils trade candidates for the 2024-25 season:

Nico Daws

With Akira Schmid already dealt and Jacob Markstrom brought in to solidify the Devils' crease, there's been some rumblings about what the future holds for Daws. The 23-year-old former third-round pick has appeared in 46 NHL games since being selected at the 2020 NHL Draft. Last season Daws managed to appear in 21 games in New Jersey, posting a 9-11-0 record. Jake Allen has just one season left on his deal, keep an eye on an Allen extension. If one comes down the pipe, Daws is a prime trade candidate.

2025 Second-Round Picks

While someone like Dawson Mercer is going to be asked about on the trade market, the Devils appear reluctant to move on from Mercer who has a bright future ahead of him. Look for Fitzgerald to be open to moving a couple of his three second-round picks at some point next season. The Devils are going for it and Fitzgerald knows his team is close to getting over the hump, despite surprisingly missing the Stanley Cup Playoffs last year. Look for the Devils to be one of the league's most improved teams and look for Fitzgerald to not slow down at all trying to upgrade his roster.
