NHL Trade Rumors: 2 Vegas Golden Knights trade candidates

The Vegas Golden Knights are going to look much different next season. General manager Kelly McCrimmon has allowed for some serious turnover to take place this summer and the roster makeup will be quite altered heading into the start of the 2024-25 campaign.

As the Golden Knights exec has shown in the past, he's not afraid to make a bold trade and flip his team on their head in a moments notice. Here's two Golden Knights who could be the next two traded heading into the start of next season:

Nicolas Roy

Roy, 27, has three seasons left on his contract at a $3 million cap hit and does not hold any trade protection. He's coming off a 13 goal, 41 point season in 70 games and played just over 15 minutes of ice-time a night for Vegas. Roy was used on both sides of special teams and won 47% of his faceoffs last season. He's a prime trade candidate and has recently been linked to the Columbus Blue Jackets regarding a Patrik Laine swap.

Brett Howden

Howden is a pending unrestricted free agent after the 2024-25 season. He's on the books for $1.9 million against the cap. Howden, 26, is a former 2016 first-round pick of the Tampa Bay Lightning. He appeared in 72 games for the Golden Knights last season, scoring eight goals and adding 11 assists. Howden also recorded two points in seven Stanley Cup Playoff games. His best season came back in 2021-22 when he posted 20 points in 47 games in Vegas. Howden is versatile to play the wing or down the middle, in a bottom-six role, which could be appealing to onlooking teams.
