NHL Trade Rumors: Oilers Considering "Significant Trade"

The Edmonton Oilers are reportedly on the verge of making a "significant trade" to strengthen their roster ahead of the upcoming season, according to insider Frank Seravalli.

Following a successful run to the Stanley Cup Final last season, the Oilers are looking to build on that momentum and address some weaker areas in their lineup.

With the recent trade of Cody Ceci to the San Jose Sharks, the team has gained some salary cap flexibility, which could pave the way for a major move before training camp opens.

One of the Oilers' primary objectives is to bolster their defense, particularly by adding a right-shot defenseman who can complement Darnell Nurse.

Among the names being considered is free-agent defenseman Tony DeAngelo, known for some offensive abilities but also his controversial past.

The Oilers are also reportedly exploring the possibility of bringing back former players Tyson Barrie and Justin Schultz, both of whom could provide the offensive punch and experience needed on the blue line.

As the start of the season approaches, the Oilers seem ready to make a move that could significantly impact their outlook in the 2024-25 campaign.
