NHL Trade Rumors: Rangers Interested In Trevor Zegras?

Throughout the offseason, there have been consistent rumors linking the New York Rangers to Anaheim Ducks' forward Trevor Zegras.

Despite the speculation, Arthur Staple of The Athletic has clarified that the Rangers have never seriously pursued Zegras.

While the young forward’s talent and local ties might make him an appealing addition, Staple emphasized that acquiring Zegras would require a substantial package beyond just winger Kaapo Kakko, a sentiment echoed by those close to the Rangers' front office.

Staple also addressed trade discussions involving Kakko, noting that even if the Rangers were to target high-profile players like Zegras or Buffalo Sabres' Alex Tuch, Kakko alone wouldn't suffice as the centerpiece.

Kakko's inconsistent performance and injury history have diminished his trade value, making him a "buy-low" player in the eyes of other teams.

This reality complicates any potential trade scenarios for the Rangers, who would need to offer significant additional assets to land a player of Zegras's caliber.

Over his four-year career, Zegras has amassed 55 goals and 99 assists for 154 total points across 211 games played.
