Oilers Rumors: 2 Pacific Division Teams Interested In Evander Kane

The Anaheim Ducks and Los Angeles Kings have emerged as strong suitors for Edmonton Oilers winger Evander Kane, eyeing the 33-year-old as an addition to bolster their rosters ahead of the upcoming season.

Despite Kane's solid performance last year, where he recorded 24 goals and 20 assists in 77 games, his tenure in Edmonton has been marked by both on-ice success and off-ice controversies, including reported locker-room tensions.

The interest from these Pacific Division rivals shows their desire to add offensive firepower and grit, but any potential trade is complicated by Kane's no-movement clause and his expressed commitment to remaining in Edmonton.

Kane's health has been a focal point in trade discussions, with conflicting reports about his readiness for the season.

While the 2 Mutts Hockey Podcast has suggested that Kane is expected to be fit for training camp, despite playing through a sports hernia last season, insider Bob Stauffer has hinted that surgery might be necessary, casting doubt on his immediate availability.

This uncertainty adds a layer of risk for any team considering acquiring Kane, particularly given his importance to the Oilers and his own reluctance to leave a team with serious playoff ambitions.

For the Oilers, moving Kane could provide much-needed salary cap relief, especially as they navigate crucial contract negotiations with stars like Leon Draisaitl.

However, Kane's desire to stay in Edmonton and be part of a deep playoff run, combined with the potential health concerns and his no-movement clause, create significant barriers to a deal.
