Report: Yet Another Pittsburgh Penguins Forward To Hit the Trade Block?

Following their recent acquisition of Cody Glass and the free agent signings of Anthony Beauvillier and Blake Lizotte, plus the need to make room for up-and-coming prospect Vasily Ponomarev, the Pittsburgh Penguins must clear out some older veterans.

According to Dan Kingerski of Pittsburgh Hockey Now, the latest veteran who will find his name on the trade block is Noel Acciari. Although he also notes that first the 32-year-old will need to show more than he did last season.

Perhaps NHL GMs need to see Acciari’s reckless abandon on the wing to increase his trade value rather than the buttoned-up center he was, whose impact was solid though unspectacular.

Acciari posted just four goals and seven points in 55 games for Pittsburgh, the lowest output of his career since his rookie season with the Boston Bruins. He delivered 124 hits, well down from the disruptive 244 body blows he doled out the year before with the St. Louis Blues and Toronto Maple Leafs.

Kingerski also suggests that Lars Eller would be a prime trade candidate, after a solid year in the middle-six, notching 15 goals and 31 points, both within shouting distance of his career highs after 15 years in the NHL.

Another means of clearing some roster space, he indicates, could be to waive Glass, who was just acquired last week.
