Sabres Rumors: Alex Tuch's Feelings On Staying In Buffalo Long-Term Revealed

Alex Tuch is widely anticipated to be eager to commit to a long-term extension with the Buffalo Sabres as soon as he becomes eligible, according to Mike Harrington and Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News.

For all of Kevyn Adams’ talk about looking for players who want to be Sabres, there is no one who wants to be here more than No. 89,” Harrington writes.

Tuch, who notched 22 goals and 37 assists for 59 points in 75 games last season, has quickly become a cornerstone for the Sabres since his arrival.

His strong performance on the ice has been complemented by his reported leadership in the locker room, making him a central figure in the team’s future plans.

The 28-year-old winger, originally from Syracuse, New York and drafted 18th overall by the Minnesota Wild in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, has developed into a consistent offensive force for Buffalo.

Over the past four seasons, Tuch has accumulated 88 goals and 121 assists, totaling 209 points in 254 games. His ability to produce at a high level while playing alongside star center Tage Thompson has solidified his status as a top-line player.

Given Tuch's impact and his deep ties to Buffalo, the Sabres are expected to prioritize securing his future with a significant long-term deal.

With his current contract set to expire in two years, a new deal could see a substantial increase from his current $4.75 million cap hit, potentially exceeding $8 million per season.

Tuch put up 22 goals and 37 assists for 59 total points across 75 games played last season with the Sabres.
