Vancouver Canucks: 2 Bounce-Back Candidates for Next Season

Each year, we see players around the NHL bounce back from rough seasons. The 2024-25 campaign should offer more of the same, so in this latest series for NHL Trade Rumors, we will take a look at a few bounce-back candidates from every NHL club.

In this latest edition of the series, we will take a look at the Vancouver Canucks.

Elias Pettersson: Canucks superstar Elias Pettersson ended the 2023-24 season with strong stats, as he had 34 goals and 89 points in 82 games. However, he notably cooled off during the final stretch of the regular season and had a quiet postseason, as he had just a goal and six points in 13 games. As a result, Pettersson will look to have a consistent season in 2024-25 and hit the 100-point mark again, just like he did during the 2022-23 season.

Jake DeBrusk: The Canucks made a big move this summer when they signed Jake DeBrusk to a seven-year, $38.5 million contract. He is expected to be a long-term part of their top six from here and will aim to bounce back. DeBrusk struggled with consistency this past season with the Boston Bruins, as he had 19 goals and 40 points in 80 games. However, he showed during the playoffs that a bounce-back season could be on the way, as he had five goals and 11 points in 13 games.
