Washington Capitals: 2 Bounce-Back Candidates for Next Season

Each year, we see players around the NHL bounce back from rough seasons. The 2024-25 campaign should offer more of the same, so in this latest series for NHL Trade Rumors, we will take a look at a few bounce-back candidates from every NHL club.
In this latest edition of the series, we will be focusing on the Washington Capitals.

Tom Wilson: Tom Wilson is coming off a bit of a down season offensively. In 74 games, the 6-foot-4 winger recorded 18 goals to go along with 35 points. Overall, for his standards, Wilson's offense was a bit lower than expected. Keep in mind, Wilson posted 24 goals and 52 points in 78 games for the Capitals in 2021-22, which was his last mostly healthy season before this past campaign. As a result, it would not be shocking in the slightest if we see Wilson's goal and point totals get back up next season for the Caps.

Pierre-Luc Dubois: Pierre-Luc Dubois had a nightmare 2023-24 season with the Los Angeles Kings. He just could not find his fit in their system, and his offense was significantly down because of it. In 82 games with the Kings, he had 16 goals to go along with 40 points. Now, he is getting a much-needed fresh start with the Capitals and will look to get his offensive game back on track.
