3 Ottawa Senators Prospects Expected To Get NHL Playing Time In 2024-25

The Ottawa Senators have been rebuilding for long enough and have to make the jump to the playoffs. A lot of their talent has developed into solid NHL players, leaving them without a great prospect pool. While the system is depleted and the team hasn't made strides, there are still some prospects that are expected to appear in the NHL this season.

Tyler Kleven

Tyler Kleven is prepared to make the jump to the NHL full-time this season as he will likely land in a third pairing role on the left side. The 22-year-old appeared in eight games in 2022-23 and nine games in 2023-24. He is very big and is a presence on the back-end, hitting and performing well on the penalty kill. He has a solid shot from the point, but defense is where he thrives.

Mads Sogaard

Mads Sogaard has a bit of NHL experience to this point, but not enough to be graduated as a prospect. He played in six games last season for the Senators and struggled, but the team wasn't great defensively and no goalie did well. He is next up if something happens to Linus Ullmark or Anton Forsberg. The latter finds it difficult to stay healthy for a full season, so at the very least, Sogaard should get into a handful of games and be given a shot in his fourth consecutive season.

Angus Crookshank

Angus Crookshank played very well in the AHL last season and earned playing time in the NHL for the Senators. He put up 24 goals and 46 points for Bellville and added two goals and three points in 13 games for Ottawa. The 24-year-old should make the team out of training camp and be a good depth piece if his game carries over to the NHL. He will get time on the fourth line this season.
