3 Potential Free-Agent Destinations for Dominik Kubalik

The NHL free-agent market is still littered with talent including some interesting players like free-agent forward Dominik Kubalik. The 29-year-old winger is looking to hit the reset button on his NHL career and prove himself to an interested team come training camp.

While a one-year NHL contract doesn't appear likely, Kubalik could land a PTO for this season. Here's three teams to keep an eye on as training camps approach:

Pittsburgh Penguins

The Penguins need more depth up front, including secondary scoring so Kubalik could be brought in to upscale the internal competition for camp. Kyle Dubas has been retooling the Penguins to get a bit younger for next season, so adding a 29-year-old wouldn't be out of consideration. Kubalik has speed and a strong offensive IQ. He spent the past season posting just 15 points for the Senators in 74 games, however scored 20 goals the season before and in the right situation, could very easily get back to this level of production.

Toronto Maple Leafs

Speaking of Dubas, his old team in Toronto needs some depth on the wing and could be interested in a PTO for Kubalik. The team is dealing with a trade request from Nick Robertson and if the young forward holds his ground and doesn't report to training camp, Brad Treliving will need to get creative to find some depth on the wing. Adding Kubalik on a PTO could be a good start.

Washington Capitals

The Caps are looking to continue to push for a Stanley Cup and will be doing so any year Alex Ovechkin is dressed to play. Kubalik would give them a winger who can play up and down the lineup and into the top six if needed. He's recorded 93 goals and 176 points in 357 career NHL games and his next game could come with a Caps jersey on.
