3 Washington Capitals Prospects Expected To Get NHL Playing Time In 2024-25

The Washington Capitals did some roster maneuvering this offseason and are not only attempting to get into the playoffs again this season, but actually do some damage once they get there. The team is relatively injury-prone, which will open up some roster spots at times this season. Expect all three of these players to see time in the NHL in 2024-25.

Ivan Miroschnichenko

Ivan Miroshnichenko split time between the NHL and the AHL last season as a rookie after coming over from Russia. He played 47 games in the AHL, recording nine goals and 25 points, but then scored two goals and six points in 21 NHL games with the Capitals. This still qualifies him as a rookie this season and he should be able to take a full-time role on the team. He can really shoot the puck and is big, strong, and fast as well. This is a great mix of talent and he will without a doubt get NHL playing time in 2024-25.

Clay Stevenson

Clay Stevenson is in somewhat of a logjam in net in Washington. He will start in the AHL with Hunter Shepard, but both should at least get a game for the Capitals at some point this season. Charlie Lindgren and Logan Thompson will be the tandem in Washington, but the undrafted Stevenson's numbers last season in the AHL are undeniable. He finished with a 2.06 GAA and .922 SV% in 36 games. He has yet to play an NHL game, so the Capitals will want to see how he fares as soon as possible.

Vincent Iorio

Vincent Iorio has gotten into nine NHL games in his career, six coming last season and three the season prior. He doesn't stand out, but is good defensively and a strong skater. The Capitals' defense is likely to get banged up and he should be the first callup if that happens to get in more than six games this time around. He is approaching the point where he will earn a full-time role in the NHL.
