Anaheim Ducks’ No. 3 Pick Beckett Sennecke Has Fractured Foot, To Miss Significant Time

It's a brutal break after the high of being unexpectedly selected with the No. 3 overall pick in the NHL Draft this past June. Beckett Sennecke, readying for his first rookie camp with the Anaheim Ducks, will instead be out for six to eight weeks with a fractured foot.

And while Sennecke was seen wearing a boot on his foot at the end of August during training camp with the Oshawa Generals, insiders of the OHL team said at the time that the boot was supposed to come off in a couple of days "and he’ll be fully good for Anaheim Ducks camp and the start of the OHL season."

Umm. Not so much.

Terrible news for the 18-year-old forward, who lifted his stock this past OHL season with a tremendous year, with 27 goals and 68 points in 63 games, while recording a plus/minus rating of +33. He was lights out in the playoffs as well with the Generals, notching 10 goals and 22 points in 16 games.

Ahead of the Draft, observers thought he could be a "surprise" top 10 pick as one of the top playmakers available, but he wound up surprising even himself when the Ducks stunningly took him at #3.

Now we are left wondering if Sennecke's reaction to this latest injury news was the same as his viral response to being selected with the third overall pick.

An awful break for a great young player. He'll hopefully be back in the Generals lineup sometime in November.
