Brock Boeser Not Concerned with Contract Talk Coming Off Blood Clot

Brock Boeser had the best season of his NHL career in 2023-24, and now heads into the final year of his contract with the chance to land a life-changing contract.

But that's not what's on his mind heading to camp. Boeser was forced out of the Canucks lineup at the end of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs with a blood clot in his leg. He has recently been cleared to resume playing after being on blood thinners all summer.

Boeser set career highs with 40 goals, 73 points and a plus/minus rating of +23 last season, and added seven more goals and 12 points in 12 playoff games. He'll now wrap up his three-year, $19.95 million contract ($6.65 AAV), without a new deal for next year. But that's for another day.

"Just let it play out," Boeser says now. "Obviously coming off a blood clot, I think I've got a lot to prove, just kind of dealing with that little setback. So, I'm just focused on having a great camp again like I did last year, and trying to have a fast start to this season again."

And if he does that, negotiations could pick up on an extension for the 27-year-old forward.

"I'm just really happy that I can move forward and focus on this season. It's a great vibe right now."

He's now topped the 20-goal mark in five of his seven full NHL seasons, and in 479 games, has 179 goals, 205 assists and 384 points.
