Calgary Flames Sign Jarred Tinordi

The Calgary Flames have announced the signing of nine-year NHL veteran defenseman Jarred Tinordi. He's inked a one-year, two-way contract. He'll earn $800,000 at the NHL level.

The 6'6" d-man spent the last two years with the Chicago Blackhawks, where he racked up 310 hits across 96 games. He averaged 16 minutes of ice time per night.

The 32-year-old will bring some serious size and physicality to the club, and should act as a mentor to young blueliners on both the Flames and/or the Wranglers at the AHL level.

Tinordi was drafted in the first round by the Montreal Canadiens in 2010 (22nd overall) and has played for seven different NHL teams over his dozen years as a pro.

His past two seasons in Chicago were spent solely with the big club, but it's quite possible he'll be at the AHL level for some time this year with the Flames organization.
