Carolina Hurricanes Sign Rocco Grimaldi to PTO

The Carolina Hurricanes have made a move, as they have signed forward Rocco Grimaldi to a professional tryout (PTO) contract.

The Hurricanes released their training camp roster on Tuesday, where it was confirmed that Grimaldi was added on a PTO. In addition, the previously reported Sam Gagner PTO to the Canes was proven correct, as his name is also on the Hurricanes' training camp roster.

Grimaldi spent the entirety of this past season with the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League (AHL) and was nothing short of excellent. In 72 games played, he had 36 goals to go along with 73 points. This was after he had 33 goals and 73 points in 70 games split between the San Diego Gulls and Rockford IceHogs in 2022-23. Thus, he has been one of the AHL's top scorers for multiple seasons now.

Grimaldi also has a decent amount of NHL experience. In 203 career NHL games split between the Florida Panthers, Colorado Avalanche, and Nashville Predators, he has 30 goals and 67 points. He last played in the NHL during the 2021-22 campaign, when he had zero points in seven games with the Preds.

We will now need to wait and see if Grimaldi can impress at training camp and earn a contract of some kind with the Hurricanes from here.
