Nashville Predators Re-Sign RFA Marc Del Gaizo

The Nashville Predators have gotten their second piece of business done on Monday before training camp opens next week, re-signing restricted free agent Marc Del Gaizo.

It's a one-year, two-way contract worth $775,000 at the NHL level, and $125,000 at the AHL level. He's coming off his entry-level contract, which paid him an AAV of $925,000.

The left-shot defenseman made his NHL debut last season, and played nine games with the Predators, split between November and March, and recorded three assists in his first three games. That made him only the third Predators player ever to begin his career with points in his first three games. He had a plus/minus rating of +2 and averaged 16:28 of ice time in those appearances.

The 24-year-old, who was a 4th-round selection by Nashville back in 2019, spent most of the season, as he had the previous couple of years, with the Milwaukee Admirals of the AHL. There, in 60 games, he handed out 26 assists to go with 8 goals and a total of 34 points, while registering a plus/minus rating of +18. In 15 playoff games, he added seven points.

In college, at UMass-Amherst, he was a key cog on the blueline, helping lead the school to its first NCAA Championship.

Del Gaizo will likely head back to Milwaukee to start the season, but should be one of the first recalls to the Preds blueline in case of an injury.

The Preds also re-signed RFA center Juuso Pärssinen to a one-year, one-way deal on Monday.
