New York Rangers Sign Adam Erne to PTO

The New York Rangers have added to their training camp roster, as they have signed forward Adam Erne to a professional tryout (PTO) agreement.
Erne, 29, spent this past season with the Edmonton Oilers organization. In 24 games with the Oilers, the 6-foot-1 winger had one goal, one assist, 68 hits, and an even plus/minus rating. He also played in 36 games with the Bakersfield Condors of the American Hockey League (AHL), where he had six goals to go along with six assists and 22 penalty minutes.

By bringing in Erne with this PTO, the Rangers now have another potential option to consider for their bottom six. If he impressed during training camp and earned himself a contract, he could be a decent 13th forward or call-up option for the Rangers next season.

Erne has made appearances at the NHL level in each of the last eight seasons. In 379 career NHL games split between the Tampa Bay Lightning, Detroit Red Wings, and Oilers, Erne has 41 goals, 50 assists, 91 points, 180 penalty minutes, and 880 hits.

It will be interesting to see if the New Haven, Connecticut native earns a contract for the season from the Rangers from here.
