New York Rangers Sign Madison Bowey to PTO

According to Rick Dhaliwal, the New York Rangers are signing defenseman Madison Bowey to a professional tryout (PTO) agreement.

Bowey, 29, spent this past season in the KHL, where he had stints with Minsk Dynamo, Chelyabinsk Traktor, and Nizhny Novgorod Torpedo. In 51 games split between the three KHL squads, he had four goals and 14 points.

Bowey last played at the NHL level during the 2021-22 season, where he had zero points and a minus-3 rating in two games for the Vancouver Canucks. In 158 NHL games over five seasons split between the Washington Capitals, Detroit Red Wings, Chicago Blackhawks, and Canucks, he has five goals, 40 points, and 181 hits.

By adding Bowey on a PTO, the Rangers now have another depth defender option to consider. If he impresses the Rangers at training camp, it could be enough for him to secure a two-way deal and resume his North American professional career.

Nevertheless, it will be very interesting to see if Bowey can earn a contract from here. He could be a decent extra defenseman for them, and it would not hurt for the Blueshirts to have another right-shot defenseman who has experience.
