Ottawa Senators Sign Calen Addison & Nikolay Kulemin to PTOs

The Ottawa Senators have added to the training camp roster, as they have signed Calen Addison and Nikolay Kulemin to PTOs.

Addison, 24, is one of the top free-agent defensemen still looking for a contract for the 2024-25 season. However, he is now a step closer to obtaining one after landing this PTO with the Senators.

With the Senators needing more depth on the right side of their defense, it is understandable that they are taking a gamble on Addison. If he impresses and earns himself a contract, he would give them another potential option for their bottom pairing.

Addison appeared in 72 games this past season split between the Minnesota Wild and San Jose Sharks, where he had one goal, 17 points, and a minus-38 rating. While it was a down year for him, he also had three goals and 29 points in 62 games for the Wild just back in 2022-23.

As for Kulemin, he's certainly a blast from the past. The 38-year-old forward last played at the NHL level during the 2017-18 season, where he had one goal and two assists in 13 games for the New York Islanders. He has spent each of the last six seasons in the KHL. During this past season with Ufa Salavat Yulayev, he had 13 goals and 25 points in 46 games.

In 669 career NHL games split between the Toronto Maple Leafs and New York Islanders, Kulemin has 121 goals and 274 points.
