Sabres Rumors: What Will Buffalo Do With Peyton Krebs?
Krebs, who was a key asset in the trade that sent Jack Eichel to the Vegas Golden Knights, has struggled to establish himself as a top-six forward in the NHL.
Despite his promising potential as a former first-round pick and his success in junior and the AHL, Krebs' offensive production has been underwhelming, managing just four goals and 17 points over 80 games last season—a career low across the board.

General Manager Kevyn Adams remains optimistic about Krebs' development, particularly noting his growth in defensive play and his shift towards becoming a reliable two-way center.
However, with the Sabres' recent veteran acquisitions, such as Ryan McLeod and Sam Lafferty, Krebs faces increased competition for a spot in the lineup.
His limited leverage as a restricted free agent without arbitration rights and the Sabres' ample cap space make a short-term contract the most likely outcome, giving Krebs the opportunity to prove his worth and secure a more significant role on the team.
Sabres holding out with Peyton Krebs who’s a 4th liner with a contract projection of 900k while having 8.5m in cap is wild. Tip-toeing their cap space like they’re the Vegas Golden Knights

While the Sabres have confidence in Krebs' long-term potential, the possibility of a trade remains if he fails to carve out a consistent role.
As the last unsigned RFA on the Sabres' roster, Krebs could be an intriguing asset for teams looking for depth down the middle, especially if they believe in his untapped offensive upside. However, the Sabres appear willing to give him another chance to prove himself in Buffalo.
