Seattle Kraken to Sign Adam Larsson to Multi-Year Extension

According to NHL insider Frank Seravalli, the Seattle Kraken are on the verge of signing defenseman Adam Larsson to a four-year contract extension. Elliotte Friedman later added that Larsson's extension will come with a $5.25 million AAV.

Larsson, 31, is entering the final season of the four-year, $16 million contract he signed with the Kraken back during the 2021 NHL Offseason. When noting that he is a significant part of the Kraken's defensive group, there was naturally some speculation over the prospect of the Pacific Division club extending Larsson. Now, it appears to be coming to fruition.

Larsson appeared in 81 games this past season with the Kraken, where he had four goals to go along with 18 points, 162 hits, and a plus-6 rating. Overall, it was another solid season from the 6-foot-3 defenseman, and he is now set to land a big contract extension because of it.

With Larsson playing top-pairing minutes and being the Kraken's top shutdown defender, it makes sense that they are signing him to a contract extension. Once this contract is officially announced, he will be a long-term part of the Kraken's core as they look to become a true playoff threat. In addition, perhaps the potential for him to be their next captain is in the cards.
