Sharks' Thomas Bordeleau Suffers Camp Injury, Status for Season In Doubt

After showing himself as a performer on the power play late last season, and creating more opportunities to win himself a regular role with the team, Thomas Bordeleau's status for the regular season is now in doubt after suffering a lower-body injury, and has been designated "week to week."

"He's had a good camp, so we'll just see how it goes and just take it day-by-day, as we usually will," said head coach Ryan Warsofsky. He added that it'll be touch and go for the young forward to be ready by opening night.

It's a disappointing turn of events for Bordeleau, who was hoping to "really make a statement and show people what I can do for a full year."

After another strong showing in the American Hockey League with the Barracuda (25 points in 35 games) for a large chunk of the season last year, Bordeleau came back up to the big team in March and immediately recorded three goals on the power play in two games. He finished with 11 points in 27 games, playing about 15 minutes a night.

He was a second-round pick of the Sharks (38th overall) in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft and has played 43 career games with San Jose over his first three pro seasons.
