Toronto Maple Leafs Re-Sign Nick Robertson

The Toronto Maple Leafs have made a notable move, as they have re-signed forward Nick Robertson to a one-year, $875,000 contract.

Robertson, 22, has been one of the NHL's most popular trade candidates all offseason. This is because the young forward requested a trade from the Maple Leafs earlier this summer. In addition, it was reported by NHL insider Chris Johnston that Robertson was still hoping for a change of scenery late last month. However, after all of the rumors, Robertson has signed a new deal and will remain with the Maple Leafs -at least for now.

Robertson is coming off a solid season with the Maple Leafs, where he set new career highs with 14 goals, 13 assists, and 27 points. Overall, it was a nice step in the right direction for the skilled forward, and he will now look to hit a new level next season after landing this deal.

When looking at the Maple Leafs' lineup, Robertson has a very good chance of receiving more playing time. Their depth at the left wing position is not necessarily the strongest, so Robertson could very well be put into a position to succeed in 2024-25.

Overall, this is a nice low-risk move for the Maple Leafs. It will be intriguing to see how well Robertson performs during this one-year, prove-it deal from here.
