UFA James van Riemsdyk Signs One-Year Contract with Metropolitan Team

15-year veteran forward and UFA James van Riemsdyk has landed himself a gig for the 2024-25 season, signing a one-year contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

It's a $900,000 deal for the seven-time 20-goal scorer. JVR has a nose for the net, and in all, he has lit the lamp over 300 times in his NHL career.

Blue Jackets GM Don Waddell explained the signing of the 35-year-old: "James van Riemsdyk has been a very consistent, productive player throughout his career and bringing him to Columbus will not only provide depth to our group up front, but also valuable leadership and another veteran presence in our dressing room."

He played a limited fourth-line role last year in Boston, but still recorded 11 goals and 38 points in 71 games in just 13:30 of ice time per night.

JVR has totaled 311 goals and 318 assists for 629 points in 1,011 games over his 15-year career with the Philadelphia Flyers, Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins.
