Vancouver Canucks Place 2 Defensemen On Waivers

The Vancouver Canucks have placed defensemen Guillaume Brisebois and Jett Woo on waivers.

Brisebois and Woo are now the first players with waiver eligibility across the NHL who have been cut from a training camp roster. As a result, teams around the NHL now have the opportunity to claim them if they need more depth on the blueline.

Brisebois, 27, was selected by the Canucks with the 66th overall pick of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. He appeared in eight games this past season with the Abbotsford Canucks, where he had zero points. He last played at the NHL level back during the 2022-23 season, where he had one goal, two assists, and a minus-2 rating in 17 games for the Canucks.

Woo, 24, was selected by the Canucks with the 37th overall pick in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. The right-shot defenseman spent the entirety of this past season down in the AHL with Abbotsford, where he had seven goals, 31 points, and 93 penalty minutes. At this juncture of his career, he has yet to play an NHL game.

It will now be interesting to see if either of these defensemen end up getting picked up off waivers from here.
