3 Dallas Stars Prospects Expected To Get NHL Playing Time In 2024-25

The Dallas Stars are in a unique position in that the organization has very good drafting on top of being a very good team. This started to show up in the next wave last season with the emergence of a couple of very talented players breaking into the NHL. There are more to come as well, so let's take a look at three prospects who will earn NHL playing time in 2024-25.

Logan Stankoven

Logan Stankoven should still be considered a prospect as he only played 24 games last season and is still eligible for the Calder Trophy this season. He came in flying later in the 2023-24 season and had an immediate impact, scoring six goals and 14 points in 24 games. This is after putting up 24 goals and 57 points in 47 games as an AHL rookie.

Stankoven will most definitely make the Stars and get top-9 minutes. The team lost a little talent up front, so he will have to step into the role he played last season for the entire 2024-25 campaign. He works hard and wins battles, so there should be no worry that he should only get better this season.

Mavrik Bourque

Mavrik Bourque was just a little behind Stankoven in that he only got a one game trial at the end of the season and one game in the playoffs. He more than earned the callup though as the second year top AHL prospect recorded 26 goals and 77 points in 71 games. It appears as though he is going to be serving as the third line center in his rookie year this season.

Remi Poirier

Remi Poirier is the top goalie prospect of the Stars. He is coming off a good rookie season in the AHL and even got called up last season. That didn't turn into any playing time, but sooner rather than later the organization is going to want to take at least a one game look at him. Magnus Hellberg will likely get the first callup if one of the two NHL goalies miss time, but if Poirier improves in the AHL over the course of the season, the Stars will likely be in good position to make the playoffs and can afford to give him a trial.
