NHL Trade Rumors: 3 Forwards Who Could Hit The Trade Block This Season

Joe Yerdon of Bleacher Report has highlighted Taylor Hall, Patrick Kane, and Claude Giroux as potential trade targets this season, with each veteran forward on an expiring contract and facing uncertain futures due to their teams’ early struggles. 

Hall, now with the rebuilding Chicago Blackhawks, is coming off an injury but remains a proven scorer. While Chicago focuses on developing young talent like Connor Bedard, Hall’s proven offensive talent and playoff experience make him an appealing target for contenders. 

“Any team looking for scoring depth will have Hall on their radar,” Yerdon notes.

Patrick Kane finds himself in a similar position with the Detroit Red Wings. 

After re-signing in Detroit following a strong comeback season, Kane was hopeful for a playoff push. However, depending on what the team looks like over the next couple of months could force both sides to reconsider. 

Yerdon suggests that Kane could be moved to "help a contending team go for the Cup," as his offensive talent and championship pedigree are well-suited for a deep playoff run.

Claude Giroux's situation with the Ottawa Senators mirrors that of Hall and Kane. 

Despite being brought in for his leadership and skill, the 36-year-old veteran could become a trade chip if Ottawa falls out of contention. 

Yerdon sees Giroux as “exactly the kind of veteran teams want in a deep playoff run,” making him a logical target for contenders. 

With all three players on expiring contracts, their potential availability could create major trade intrigue as the March 7 deadline approaches.
