3 Potential Free-Agent Destinations for Kevin Shattenkirk
The 2024-25 season might be here, but veteran defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk remains without a home. This has the prospect of changing, however, as he has reportedly generated some interest. Due to this, let's discuss three potential free-agent destinations for the right-shot defender now.
Edmonton Oilers: NHL insiders Chris Johnston and Pierre LeBrun recently wrote that the Edmonton Oilers are believed to have expressed interest in Shattenkirk. Given their need for more help on the right side of their defense, this is not particularly surprising. Shattenkirk would give them another option for their bottom pairing and second power-play unit if signed.
Los Angeles Kings: The Los Angeles Kings could look to add another right-shot defenseman, especially with star defender Drew Doughty out long-term. Bringing in a player like Shattenkirk would give the Kings more depth to work with on their right side. In addition, his experience could make him a good mentor for the club's young defenders, like Jordan Spence and Brandt Clarke.
Dallas Stars: The Dallas Stars could also consider adding Shattenkirk to their group for some more depth. Their right side is not necessarily the strongest, so Shattenkirk would give them another solid option for their bottom pairing.
