3 Potential Trade Destinations for Flames' Rasmus Andersson
The Calgary Flames have traded away an array of notable players since last season, and this trend is expected to continue in 2024-25. Defenseman Rasmus Andersson has been generating a lot of buzz as a trade candidate, so let's discuss three teams who could look to add him now.
Ottawa Senators: It is no secret that the Ottawa Senators could use a boost on the right side of their defense. Bringing in a player like Andersson would significantly improve their defense and would help them become a more legitimate playoff threat in the Eastern Conference. Thus, don't be surprised if they are in the mix for Andersson this season.
Dallas Stars: The right side of the Dallas Stars' defense has been an issue for a while. After losing Chris Tanev this past offseason, they brought in Matt Dumba and Ilya Lyubushkin. While those veteran defenders have their solid moments, bringing in a player like Andersson for their top pairing would provide them with a major upgrade.
Utah Hockey Club: The Utah Hockey Club made an array of splashes this offseason, but they may not be done yet. When looking at their group, it is fair to argue that they could use one more top-four defenseman. They also have the cap space and assets to make a splash for Andersson, so they are a club to watch.
