Avalanche Rumors: 3 Goalie Trade Targets For Colorado

The Colorado Avalanche are off to a 0-2-0 start, and the main reason for it has been their poor goaltending. Starter Alexandar Georgiev has been pulled from each of his starts, while Justus Annunen has not been much better in relief. While they claimed Kaapo Kahkonen on waivers, he is more of a backup. The Avalanche could use an upgrade at the starter role, so let's look at three players they could consider targeting in a trade.

John Gibson

Gibson has been in the rumor mill for several seasons, and this has carried over to this campaign. While the 31-year-old is coming off a down year, his past success shows that he can be an excellent starter when playing at his best. Perhaps joining a far better club in the Avalanche could help him regain his previous All-Star form.

Tristan Jarry

Jarry is another goalie who has created plenty of chatter in the rumor mill. When playing at his best, the 29-year-old can be an effective starting goalie. While he has run into some trouble with the Penguins lately, a change of scenery could help him get things back on track.

Filip Gustavsson

Gustavsson is another name to watch when it comes to the Avalanche. The Wild shopped the 26-year-old during the offseason, and it would not be particularly surprising if they did again during the campaign. In 2022-23, Gustavsson showed that he can be an excellent goalie, recording a .931 SV% and a 2.10 GAA in 39 appearance.
