Canucks Rumors: GM Speaks On Pending UFA Brock Boeser

Vancouver Canucks GM Patrik Allvin recently addressed the future of pending UFA forward Brock Boeser as the team prepares for the 2024-25 season.

While acknowledging the significance of Boeser’s contract situation, Allvin emphasized that the team’s focus remains on performance and consistency.

“At some point, it will happen,” Allvin said about resolving Boeser’s contract, “but the focus here is the next day, next game…continue to build and find that consistency to be a good player. That’s the next level here for Brock.”

The Canucks are coming off a strong season, having won the Pacific Division and making a second-round playoff exit, which has raised the bar within the organization.

Allvin expressed confidence that Boeser can build on the progress he made last year and rise to meet the heightened expectations. "The players have raised the standard," Allvin noted, highlighting the increased pressure on individuals like Boeser to perform at a higher level.

As the season progresses, Boeser’s performance will likely play a key role in determining how the team approaches his future with the club.

Despite early-season injuries to key players like Thatcher Demko and Dakota Joshua, Allvin remains optimistic about the Canucks' ability to compete at a high level. He reiterated the importance of maintaining the “next game mentality” that helped propel the team to success last season.

“We have a lot of things to prove every day,” Allvin said. With the Canucks eyeing another deep playoff run, the focus is on continued improvement, with Boeser’s consistency and growth being central to the team’s plans moving forward.
