Flames Rumors: Anthony Mantha Could Become Valuable Trade Chip

After signing a one-year, $3.5 million contract with the Calgary Flames this offseason, Anthony Mantha has started the season on fire with his new team. In two games, he has one goal, three points, and a plus-3 rating.

If Mantha continues to produce well offensively as this season rolls on, he could become a very valuable trade chip for the rebuilding Flames as the 2025 NHL Trade Deadline approaches.

The Flames have traded away a plethora of talent since last season. Names like Elias Lindholm, Chris Tanev, Jacob Markstrom, Nikita Zadorov, Noah Hanifin, and Andrew Mangiapane are among the notable players who have been dealt. Due to this, it would not be surprising if Mantha become one of the next players moved by the Flames. Keep in mind, he is only signed for the season and is a pending unrestricted free agent.

Mantha would also likely generate plenty of interest if he is made available at the trade deadline again. The 6-foot-5 forward has shown that he can produce offensively in a middle-six role well, so he could be a nice addition for a playoff club this spring.

We will now need to wait and see what happens with Mantha from here, but there is no question that he is a player to watch in the rumor mill.
