Insider: "There's Enough Demand" For Maple Leafs to Trade Liljegren
Timothy Liljegren is the forgotten man on the Toronto Maple Leafs blueline, essentially relegated to the 8th man on the D-corps at this point. He's been a healthy scratch for nine of the Leafs' 10 games. Trade talk continues to surround the right-shot D, and insider Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff reported on Sportsnet Radio Wednesday morning that there are several teams inquiring about Liljegren.
Several teams have shown interest in Maple Leafs defenseman Timothy Liljegren, asking, “What’s the price going to be?” … It seems there’s enough demand that they could likely trade him without issue.

"There are enough teams that are in the market... but the biggest thing going against Liljegren is his term (two years, $3M AAV)," said Seravalli.
"I do think there's a couple of teams that have shown some interest... I don't think they're going to have to eat money... But I don't believe it's going to be difficult (for the Leafs to trade him).
“A few teams have inquired and asked, 'Hey, What’s the price going to be?'… It seems there’s enough demand that they could likely trade him without issue".
It doesn't sound like there'll be much of a return coming in exchange, however, perhaps just getting off the $3 million cap hit would be good enough for the Leafs to make a move, and perhaps a lower-round draft pick.
Liljegren has averaged 17:27 of ice time in his 197 games for the Leafs over the past three+ seasons as a regular.
