Jeremy Swayman & Bruins Finally Come to Terms

And so the drama ends. The Boston Bruins and restricted free agent goaltender Jeremy Swayman have finally come to terms on a new contract, just days before they open the 2024-25 season.

It's an eight-year, $8.25M AAV deal, and yes, at $66 million in total, he does top the $64 million mark—the number that was at the heart of the very public dispute that engulfed the two sides last week.

The deal leaves him tied as the 4th highest-paid goaltender in the NHL based on total salary, with Ilya Sorokin.

Swayman said he is ready to let bygones be bygones, and move on and get ready to resume being a Boston Bruin for a long time into the future.

"You can dissect it all you want, but... what's that gonna do?" said Swayman. " I couldn't be more happy to be in this position. The kid from Alaska standing right here in front of you is really happy and beyond pleased to be a Bruin for eight more years."

Swayman became the full-time No. 1 goalie in Boston when the team traded his hug partner-in-crime, Linus Ullmark, to the Ottawa Senators at the beginning of the offseason. That move, however, left for an awkward and sticky situation as the two sides battled it out over a new deal for the man handed sole ownership of the Bruins crease.

After splitting the duties for the last three seasons, the 25-year-old really did take control of the net as of last spring's playoffs, when he started 12 of the Bruins' 13 games.

He finished the 2023-24 season with a 25-10-8 mark, a .916 save percentage and a 2.53 goals against average. He already has a Jennings Trophy under his belt, having shared that with Ullmark in 2022-23. For his career, Swayman has a .919 Sv% and a 2.34 GAA.
