Lightning Place Veteran Conor Sheary On Waivers

The Tampa Bay Lightning have made a very interesting move in placing veteran Conor Sheary on waivers. The team is already pressed for players to make an impact in the bottom-6 and Sheary was expected to continue to be a player that can contribute.
The Lighting are 4-2-0 on the season, but Sheary has only played three of those games. He has bounced around a fair bit over the past six seasons, playing for four different teams. He is only in his second year of a three-year deal signed with Tampa Bay.

Sheary hasn't been the same player he was before he signed the $2 million AAV contract with the Lightning. He scored 14+ goals in the three seasons before coming to Tampa Bay and has scored at least 10 goals every season of his career except the 44 game rookie campaign. Shearly only managed four goals and 15 points last season.

He has been held without a point in all three games, has no shots, one block, and one hit while averaging 11 minutes per game. Sheary has been on the fourth line. With more ice time per game, I would imagine Sheary can still be the player he was not too long ago. But with the Lightning so far, it just hasn't been the case and it doesn't seem to be a match.

Cam Atkinson, who has also played just three games, should see a lot more time in the lineup now that his competition has been placed on waivers. There is a chance that Sheary will be claimed. His cap hit isn't too high and he has the talent. We'll have to wait a day to find out.
