Forward Juraj Slafkovský (upper body) will be sidelined for one week and will be reevaluated afterwards.
With this, Slafkovsky will miss the Canadiens' next four games at a minimum. With Slafkovsky being one of the Canadiens' most important forwards, this is certainly not good news for the Original Six club.
Slafkovsky, 20, has had an excellent start to the 2024-25 season with the Canadiens, as he has one goal, six points, and 22 hits. Overall, he has given them plenty of offense and physicality, so there is no question that they will miss him while he is out of the lineup.
Slafkovsky is one of the NHL's brightest young stars. The 6-foot-3 winger took a big step forward in his development this past season, as he set new career highs with 20 goals, 30 assists, and 50 points. The potential for him to hit a new level this season is undoubtedly there, but he will first need to get healthy again before this has any chance of coming to fruition.
We will now need to wait and see how quickly Slafkovsky recovers from here. Here's to hoping he suffers no setbacks along the way.
