New York Rangers Make Big Decision With Matt Rempe

The New York Rangers have made a notable roster move, as they have assigned forward Matt Rempe to their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack.

Rempe, 22, has appeared in two games for the Rangers this season, where he has zero points, five hits, and an even plus/minus rating. He has not been consistently used in the lineup, so it is understandable that the Rangers are sending him down to the AHL. This will give him the chance to receive more playing time and to work on his game.

Rempe was the talk of the NHL when he was called up to the Rangers' lineup last season. The 6-foot-9 forward became an instant hit for the Blueshirts because of his immense physicality and toughness. In 17 games last season with the Rangers, he had one goal, one assist, 50 hits, and 71 penalty minutes. He also played in 11 playoff games for the Blueshirts, where he had a goal and a plus-2 rating.

Overall, there is no harm in the Rangers sending Rempe down to the AHL. It will be interesting to see how long he ends up staying down with the Wolf Pack from here.
