NHL Trade Rumors: Analyst Predicts Trade Landing Spot For Cam Fowler

Ryan Dixon of Sportsnet has made a bold prediction that the Detroit Red Wings will acquire veteran defenseman Cam Fowler from the Anaheim Ducks this season.

In his series forecasting moves for all 32 NHL clubs, Dixon believes the Red Wings will push hard for a playoff spot by adding the local Windsor, Ontario native to their blue line.

Fowler, a skilled puck-moving defenseman with 14 years of experience in Anaheim, would provide the Red Wings with much-needed stability on the second pairing, especially as young defenseman Simon Edvinsson takes a step forward.

Dixon's prediction comes at a time when the Ducks are working with Fowler on determining his future, with trade talks already circulating.

Elliotte Friedman reported that Fowler is open to expanding his four-team no-trade list to include more teams, which could facilitate a move to Detroit.

The Red Wings have the assets to make a compelling offer, such as a package that could include prospect Eemil Viro and a second-round pick, giving Anaheim the chance to gain younger talent as they focus on their rebuild.

Adding Fowler would not only bolster Detroit's defense but also provide a leadership presence to a team hungry for postseason success.

As Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman stated earlier in the offseason, "I think we’re in with that group of teams that has a chance to compete for the playoffs."
