NHL Trade Rumors: Penguins & Avalanche trade coming?

There hasn't been a goalie swap in quite some time in the NHL, it turns out this season could bring us an one early. The Colorado Avalanche and Pittsburgh Penguins are dealing with a couple of struggling netminders, perhaps it's time for the two teams to provide Alexandar Georgiev and Tristan Jarry change of sceneries?

Earlier this week it was reported by Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman via 32 Thoughts, that the Penguins have considered moving Jarry in the past. Apparently, the Penguins are comfortable making Jarry uncomfortable, as they've given rookie netminder Joel Blomqvist a look, early on this season. Rightfully so, Jarry has been in tough to start the season.

So far through three appearances, Jarry has posted a 5.47 GAA and .833 save percentage. In Colorado, it's been much of the same, so far this season. Georgiev was pulled in his first two starts, and has recorded a 5.79 GAA and .802 save percentage, through four games.

As far as contracts go, Georgiev is a pending unrestricted free agent, earning $3.4 million against the cap. He does not have any trade protection. Meanwhile, Jarry is signed for three more seasons at $5.3 million and owns a 12 team no-trade clause, however playing in Colorado, for a team with Stanley Cup aspirations is likely something Jarry would approve.

Keep an eye on these two teams, as it's not likely to happen immediately, but this is a storyline and a trade rumor to follow, as teams will dig in to evaluate their teams around American Thanksgiving in November.
