Oilers' McDavid To Miss At Least One Game With Injury

The Edmonton Oilers suffered a huge loss in their game against the Columbus Blue Jackets after captain Connor McDavid got tripped and went awkwardly into the boards on his first shift of the game. It is being called a lower-body injury and the Oilers are going to be without him for at least one more game. The team plays Thursday in Nashville next.

McDavid has returned to Edmonton for further testing on his injury, but some suggest that it won't keep him out for too long. His status for Sunday's game against the Calgary Flames is still in question.

The Oilers were blown out by a score of 6-1 from the Blue Jackets and will have to find a way to get back into the win column and .500 on the season without their best player. Leon Draisaitl has been known to step up in a big way without McDavid in the lineup, but the Oilers are also going to need Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Zach Hyman to get going this season.

Edmonton will still have a formidable top-6 with Draisaitl, Nugent-Hopkins, Hyman, Jeff Skinner, Victor Arvidsson, and Vasily Podkolzin, but will be up against a Nashville team that is on the rise after a 0-5-0 start.

The Oilers usually have the Predators' number and defeated them this season already. Edmonton has had trouble on the power play, scoring in general, and keeping pucks out of their net. It isn't going to be any easier without McDavid in the lineup to contribute either. The team is going to have to dig in and turn things around quickly. We all know that the Oilers are capable of coming back from an even worse start to the season, but it's not a great idea to have to try to pull off what they did last season again.
