Penguins' captain Sidney Crosby makes interesting comments about team's struggles

The Pittsburgh Penguins may be 3-4-0 to start the 2024-25 season, and presumed starter Tristan Jarry already has been made a healthy scratch, but that doesn't mean captain Sidney Crosby is going to point fingers and place blame on anyone.

The classy Crosby spoke to the Athletic's Josh Yohe after the Penguins 6-3 loss to the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday, and even though it's been an interesting start for the Penguins goaltending situation, it's much more than that explains Crosby.

"It's not our goalies. It's on us to play better in front of them. "We're giving up odd-man rushes," Crosby said. "We're not getting clears. Look at the game-winner. I lose the faceoff. Then I don't get my guy. And it ends up in the back of the net. We can't keep giving up five or six goals a game if we want to win."

Jarry has posted a .836 save percentage through his three appearances, meanwhile 22-year-old rookie Joel Blomqvist is 2-2 to start the year, and owns a .908 save percentage. Alex Nedeljkovic, who took the starting job last season from Jarry, made his season debut on Sunday and unfortunately, it was much of the same ol' story for the Penguins.

After missing the Stanley Cup Playoffs in back-to-back seasons, the Penguins are facing the heat to get back into the postseason this year. If things continue to go south, look for a fire sale to take place around March.
