Rangers Rumors: Trade coming with the Winnipeg Jets?

The 2024-25 season is right around the corner and there's a number of teams to watch when it comes to trade rumors. The Winnipeg Jets and New York Rangers are near the top of the list among both conferences as both teams are looking to be in contention for the Stanley Cup this year. Turns out they could wind up helping each other out with a in-season trade.

Jets forward Nik Ehlers has been a prime trade candidate since last July, when he didn't sign a contract extension in Winnipeg. Now the talks have drawn out and it's become more clear that Winnipeg is open to moving the speedy winger for the right price.

Meanwhile, in New York, the Rangers have youngster Kaapo Kakko who hasn't lived up to expectations and could be moved at some point this season. Kakko recorded 19 points in 61 games last season, meanwhile his best season came two year ago when he posted 40 points in 82 games.

Ehlers on the other hand, 25 goals and 61 points in 82 games in 23-24, and his best season came back in 2017 when he posted 64 points. The 28-year-old Ehlers is signed for $6 million AAV in 2024-25 and has a 10-team no-trade clause on his contract.

The Jets and Rangers are no strangers to making big trades together so these two teams are certainly worth paying attention to this season as another big move could be coming before March's trade deadline.
